Rock On….

Last night, after sharing dinner, Kristin, Lizzie, and I conversed; Kristin related having last Thursday afternoon attended the weekly farmer’s market. The event is held every Thursday afternoon on Cohasset Common, during spring, summer, and fall months, from the first week in June to the first week in October. Cohasset residents as well as Cohasset neighbors, residing in nearby towns, are offered locally grown fresh seasonal produce, prepared foods, and crafts. The market also features a single entertainer or small bands that perform music during the ongoing market. Sometimes another small band plays an additional free concert for a couple of hours when the market closes.
Kristin remarked that while she was at the market, last Thursday afternoon, she met an accomplished female artist who paints rocks. This evening, as she was showing Liz several medium-size-colored rocks that she had purchased, she reflected, “Mum, these painted rocks would make good Christmas presents, don’t you think?” Unsolicited reaction from me was immediate.
“Don’t give me one of those rocks as a Christmas present,” I asserted, disapprovingly, while standing beside Kristin and Lizzie, as great-nephews Zach and Clark, who had been placed upon a made-up guest bedroom double bed were being clothed, after having been given assistance with bathing in the bathroom tub. “You’re too late,” Kate responded, grinning, sensing thanklessness having surfaced within me. “In fact, we’re not giving you a painted rock this year; we’re giving you a painted boulder,” she added. Laughter burst forth through me, the humbled ingrate.
